SHILLONG: The Congress will wait for the Cabinet minister Sniawbhalang Dhar’s reply to the showcause notice before taking any action against him.
While the chief minister is back in Shillong after his meeting with AICC functionaries in Delhi, MPCC president D.D Lapang is still camping at the national capital.
However, the party’s opinion is that it should wait for Dhar’s reply.
The complaint against Dhar is that he was working against the Congress member and Deputy Chief Minister R.C Laloo, who represents Jowai, and wanted to field his brother-in-law.
The chairman of the disciplinary committee, W.H.D Syngkon, said Dhar has been given two weeks’ time to reply after the showcause was issued to him on May 22.
“We had a meeting of the disciplinary committee and it was decided to serve the showcause notice to the minister for his response,” Syngkon said.
According to Syngkon, the party cannot rush to take any decision as there is a need to go through the procedure.
