SHILLONG: High Court of Meghalaya is pursuing the need to set up child friendly court rooms in the State. Taking up a pending PIL in this regard on Monday, the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice VP Vaish said that regarding the status of child friendly court rooms in the State, it has been suggested in the document filed with the affidavit of the Chief Secretary incharge that the works related to Courts at Nongstoin, Shillong, Jowai, Tura and Williamnagar were taken up and expected dates of completion have been stated as May 27 to 29. However, the Court asked Amicus Curiae to visit the Court campus at Shillong and submit the independent reports regarding the status of the child friendly court room in the campus at Shillong before the next date. The matter will come up for hearing next week.
