SHILLONG: The HNYF central body has extended its support to the KSU in opposing the ongoing railway work at Ronghona, Ri Bhoi citing that there is no mechanism in place at present to tackle influx of illegal migrants.
In a statement issued here on Monday, HNYF said that even the proposed mechanism as suggested by the pressure groups since 2014 like the entry and exit points, and the implementation of the district task force  among others, have not materialised till date.
“We feel that in the absence of these mechanisms, railway will only bring unabated influx to the state, hence we feel that it is the duty of the district administration to speed up the process of land acquisition and the implementation of the district task force before the government moves ahead with railway project,” the HNYF added.
