SHILLONG/NONGSTOIN: Petrol bomb attacks were reported from different parts of East and West Khasi Hills on Tuesday.
In Sohra, miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the office of Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Ltd. late on Monday night damaging windowpanes and a chair. Inquiry is on into the incident.
Another government office was attacked in Nongstoin around 2am on Tuesday.
A petrol bomb was thrown at the district forest office but there was no major damage.
The security guard who was on night duty told media persons that he heard a noise at night and went out to find out that the curtains in the office were on fire. He acted fast and informed Nongstoin police.
The police said they searched the nearby forest but could not find anyone. However, they found an unused petrol bomb outside the DFO office premises.
The chowkidar said he could not see anyone as it was dark due to load shedding.
No arrests were made but the police have got a few names of people who are suspected to be behind the attack and “they will be arrested in due course of time”.
