SHILLONG: The Ultimate Legend Bikers’ Association  (TULBA) has extended its support to the demand for a  Government college at Umroi.
TULBA President, Seiborlang L.Nonglait  said the demand for a Government college by the Ri-Bhoi Students’ Union is legitimate. Ri-Bhoi district has 799 primary schools, around 352 upper primary schools, 126 secondary schools and 26 higher secondary schools. Neighbouring villages like Mawhati, Mawryngkneng  and Umsning will benefit with the establishment of a Government college at Umroi as the place itself has 221 schools, while Mawhati has 243, Mawryngkneng (211) Umsning (247), and Nongpoh 295.
TULBA pointed out that five private colleges had helped the youths of Ri-Bhoi in education.
Parents of the students from the district face difficulties to support their children for higher education in good colleges in Shillong due to low income .Moreover, students who come to study in Shillong face many hardships like expensive house rent and travelling fare among others which hinder them from pursuing higher studies.
