SHILLONG: The Congress is rushing in leaders to counter the expansion of Bharatiya Janata Party in Meghalaya.
Gourav Gogoi, MP from Assam and AICC spokesperson who will be in Shillong on Thursday will address the media in city to explain the preparedness of the party in the run up to the Assembly polls.
Party sources said that the Congress leader will also counter various ‘anti-people’ policies being taken by the Bharatiya Janata Party. According to sources, Gogoi will also stress on the need on the part of the Congress to ensure unity so that the party can retain power in Meghalaya in 2018 Assembly elections.
The State party leadership had already taken up with the Centre the role being played by Bharatiya Janata Party in Meghalaya to capture power.
