Govt asked to revoke beef ban

SHILLONG: The UDP-youth wing and the Synjuk Diedoh Masi, Mawkyrwat, opposed the notification of the Central government to ban cattle slaughter in India, which will have its affect in Meghalaya.
In a statement to the press, Commander Shangpliang, president of UDP, youth wing, Mawkyrwat said that the ban on cattle slaughter will affect their livelihood.
“The Synjuk Diedoh Masi has demanded from the State Government to revoke the notification on cattle slaughter.” he said.
Shangpliang further added that the notification brought forth by the BJP is against the customary practices of the people of the state.
He has urged the UDP leaders to lend their voices on the cattle slaughter issue.
