Anthony Lyngdoh passes away

SHILLONG: Former Minister Anthony Lyngdoh passed away on Saturday following illness. He was 69.
Lyngdoh, a resident of Madan Laban, is survived by his wife Iarlistina Chynret, six children and two grandchildren. His funeral will be held at Laban Presbyterian cemetery, Lawsohtun, at 1 pm on June 5.
Lyngdoh was an active member of the Madan Laban and Raid Laban Dorbar during the late 70’s and early 80’s. He joined electoral politics in 1988 and contested the Assembly elections from the erstwhile Laban constituency. He won two consecutive terms as MLA in 1988 and 1993.
He was also inducted as a Cabinet Minister and held different portfolios, including Forest, Urban Affairs and Municipal. He is fondly remembered by constituents of Laban for the various development activities that he undertook during his tenure as MLA and minister.
