Army men assault traffic cop in city

SHILLONG: A traffic constable at Malki point in the city was allegedly manhandled by a group of army personnel from the Assam regiment on Saturday.
The action of the army personnel was not well received by the public in the area who gheraoed them.
It was learnt that the army personnel had an altercation with the traffic personnel on duty as a VIP vehicle was stuck in traffic snarl behind the army truck.
Later, senior police personnel rushed to the spot and escorted the army personnel to Laitumkhrah police station.
Police said that both parties reached on a compromise on the matter.
