Cattle worth Rs 1 lakh seized near border

SHILLONG: The troops of Border Security Force foiled the attempt of smugglers and seized seven cattle from a vehicle on International Border recently.
The BSF troops deployed at Umsyiem in East Khasi Hills noticed a suspected pickup vehicle laden with cattle was stopped near the International Border.
The persons who were attempting to unload the cattle on seeing BSF troops ran away. The BSF troops searched the vehicle and recovered 7 cattle worth Rs. 1 lakh. These cattle were being smuggled from unfenced area of Umsyiem.
Earlier, the BSF troops deployed at Nayabazar, East Khasi Hills seized 10 cattle being smuggled to Bangladesh.
BSF said that in addition the BSF troops seized 317 cattle, worth more than Rs 40 lakh, while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh on the International Border along Meghalaya during last week.
