SHILLONG: The formation of Lokayukta is set to be delayed as the Search Committee had again called for names for the post of chairman and members of the proposed Meghalaya Lokayukta.
An official source said on Monday that after the first round of names were received by the Search Committee in the past, the panel had last month called for some more names to get the suitable persons to be appointed as the chairman and members of Lokayukta.
The source added that a few names were selected and the list was sent to the Select Committee which is headed by the chief minister.
The Select Committee is yet to meet after it received the fresh names though the meeting was fixed on May 26.
The source added that the Select Committee desires to have more names of applicants for better choice.
However, there are concerns over the delay in the appointment of chairperson and four members of Lokayukta and its early functioning.
