SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has vacated its stay order issued on June 5 on recruitment of personnel in Police department.
The Court had earlier heard the petition of Ajay Master through his counsel who had said that the petitioner inspite of obtaining good marks from general category was not called for the interview and hence he moved the writ petition.
Following this, the Court on June 5 stayed the recruitment process.
However, on Tuesday, State counsels, K.Khan, G.Deka and S. Sen Gupta moved an application to vacate the stay. The view of the State Counsels was that the Central Recruitment Board has been conducting recruitment for personnel to be recruited Police Department from May 29 daily and it is scheduled to end on June 23 at Police Training School, Shillong. The Board will also conduct interview at Goeragre, West Garo Hills, Tura from June 27 till July 8.
According to the counsels, as per schedule the interview for the post of commando constables was from June 6 till June 8.
Counsel Khan submitted that the interview has already begun and it is still continuing but the stay order passed by the Court has created lots of inconvenience for the Police Department as well as the candidates who are called for the interview. After hearing the submissions advanced by the counsels for the parties, the Court expressed its anguish against the government counsel as to why no one had informed the Court about the interview when this matter was taken up on June 5, though some government counsels were present before the Court.
Hence, the Court vacated the stay order.
However, the Court added that the respondents will not declare the results till a decision is arrived at in the two writ petitions.
