Nongpoh: With an aim to make the silver jubilee celebration of Ri Bhoi a grand success, chairman of the Ri Bhoi District Silver Jubilee Organizing Committee and Umsning legislator Celestine Lyngdoh on Wednesday urged the people of the district to attend the closing ceremony of the celebration at NSCA Mini Stadium, Nongpoh on Friday.
“This is the time for the people of Ri Bhoi, irrespective of caste, tribe and religion, to come together and share the spirit of joy and happiness making the celebration a grand success,” Lyngdoh said.
The silver jubilee celebration of the district began on June 5. During the first three days of the celebration events like traditional song and dance competitions, traditional sports and games, quiz and debate competitions, archery competition etc., were held.
Local holiday
Meanwhile, on account of the closing ceremony of the celebration of the silver jubilee of Ri bhoi, the DC has declared a local holiday in the district on June 9 to enable people to take part in the event.
