SHILLONG: The disciplinary committee of the Congress submitted the report on Cabinet Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar to MPCC president D.D Lapang.
The charge against Dhar is that he was resorting to ‘anti-party activities’ by supporting his brother-in-law to get Congress ticket from Jowai, which is represented by Deputy Chief Minister R.C Laloo, who is seeking re-election.
The chairman of the disciplinary panel, W.H.D Syngkon, said on Wednesday that the issue of dropping Dhar from the ministry was not under the purview of the disciplinary committee and hence this angle was not examined.
The Jowai Block Congress Committee had demanded dropping the Minister from the Cabinet.
“Dropping a minister from the Cabinet is purely the prerogative of the Chief Minister,” the chairman said.
He said the committee in its report submitted to Lapang on Tuesday had suggested some recommendations, but did not divulge the details.
Earlier, Lapang said the report will be sent to AICC for its views before taking any action against Dhar.
