SHILLONG: A minor girl was allegedly abducted by one Dilbor Hussain from Mawroid village under Mairang Police station in West Khasi Hills on June 5.
However, acting on a tip off, police conducted checking and intercepted the duo at Umshyrpi bridge in Shillong. The girl was later handed over to her relatives.
In a similar incident, Naman D Momin of Rangsaigre village in Phulbari in West Garo Hills lodged a complaint that his daughter went missing on May 3, 2017. Later, it was learnt that one Md. Kudrath Miah had abducted her and taken her to Bihar.
Meanwhile, police arrested one person for allegedly molesting and assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Mawphlang.
Police said that on June 1, around 11 pm, one Elbert Kharshandi molested, assaulted and threatened the minor girl.
