‘Rahul to take over as Cong prez this year’

Patna: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is all set to become the party president this year, veteran Congress leader PL Punia said here on Wednesday.
Punia who was here to list failures of three years tenure of Narendra Modi government, while responding to a query, told media persons that Gandhi would become Congress president this year as election process for the purpose in the party was underway.
“Congress president Sonia Gandhi is the supreme authority while Rahul Gandhi is vice-president of the party”, Punia said adding that coronation of Gandhi as Congress president would help in infusing new vigour in the party.
Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) president and state education minister Ashok Chaudhary, who was present on the occasion, said “sooner Gandhi becomes the president, it would be better for the party”.
Further delay in Gandhi taking over as Congress president would go against interest of the party,he said adding that the party workers had been raising this demand since long. (UNI)
