Skill training, employment for rural youth

SHILLONG: As many as 6411 rural youth between the age group of 18-35 years will be provided skill development training and employment with the implementation of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) Scheme by the State Community & Rural Development Department.
To ensure its progress, a dedicated cell called the DDU-GKY Cell has been constituted to implement the scheme in collaboration with Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs).
In a press statement, T. Lyngwa, State Programme Director, DDU-GKY Cell stated that a MoU was signed on June 7 in Shillong between the State Programme Director, DDU-GKY Cell, Meghalaya and Representatives from Apollo Medskills.
“It was agreed that the mobilisation of interested candidates will start shortly so that the training of rural youth can commence. Under the MoU, the trades and skills to be imparted will include training for dialysis technician, blood bank technician and emergency medical technician (Advanced Course),” the statement said.
