SHILLONG: A traffic cop manhandled a BSF man after the latter was found threatening and challenging a home guard in Dhanketi here on Monday.
The home guard had confronted the BSF official who was found drinking beer inside a tourist vehicle.
It was learnt that the traffic cop, Raju Pahari caught hold of the BSF man after the latter held the home guard by his collar.
The cop-BSF duo was reportedly seen exchanging blows following which the BSF man tried to flee from the spot. However, members of the public came forward to help the cop and the BSF man was taken to the police station.
Following an apology from the BSF man, who had come to Shillong on a holiday, the cops let him off without pressing any charges.
When contacted, an official of the BSF said that if the matter was reported to the BSF, disciplinary action would have been taken against the concerned BSF man.
