SHILLONG: The KHNAM, youth wing urged Information Technology Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh to ensure that the State reservation policy is followed in recruitment in the telecom sector.
In a memorandum submitted to the minister on Thursday, KHNAM also demanded that Khasi language be used in the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system besides calling for safety of women at work place. “All telecom companies need to be directed to adhere to the State Reservation Policy and also ensure that persons employed are permanent residents of the state so as to bring down the present unemployment rate in Meghalaya,” the KHNAM youth wing said.
It added that most companies do not adhere to the minimum wages criteria as notified by the Labour department. The minister assured the KHNAM delegation that necessary steps will be taken to address the issues.
