Guwahati: The two-year-old daughter of a professor of Assam University, Silchar, remained untraced for four days even as police continued intensive investigation to find the missing child.

ADGP Mukesh Agarwal told reporters at Silchar that police are constantly monitoring the case. He said, “We are on the job. We are following all leads to find the child safely.” He added that it was premature to reveal whether any militant group was involved in the incident or it was the handiwork of criminals.

Subhamita alias Trisha (2), daughter of Shubhadeep Roy Chaudhury, a professor of the department of life science, and Shatabhisha Roy Chaudhaury, a medical officer of the Assam University was abducted from their quarters on June 5 last.

Police had revealed that Trisha was last seen with her caretaker Rambha Bakti alia Neha (20), boarding a white colour Maruti in front of the quarter.

The father of the missing child, who was away at Slovakia on an official visit, has returned to Silchar following the incident.

Eight suspects have so far been detained by police in the case. (UNI)
