SHILLONG: A 17-year-old girl in the city committed suicide allegedly after she was admonished in school for carrying a cell phone. The student of Class XI of a city-based school took the mobile phone with her to school on Wednesday. But she was not allowed to sit for the examination and the school authorities called her parents.
Police suspect that her suicide was the repercussion of the events in the school but “the matter is still under inquiry” by Rilbong police. The girl hanged herself with a dupatta in her residence on Thursday.
