SHILLONG: HSPDP has hit back at UDP MDC H.S Shylla for interfering in the internal affairs of the regional party and affirmed that Nongkrem MLA Ardent Basaiawmoit is a leader with a firm foundation.
A day after Shylla criticised Basaiawmoit for the pre-poll regional alliance with UDP and termed the move as an individual decision, the media cell of the HSPDP slammed Shylla saying that the Nongkrem MDC has concocted the story as the pre-poll alliance decision was taken in the Central Executive Committee meeting on May 25.
The statement from the media cell further stated that Shylla had sent a person to Basaiawmoit to settle the political enmity and he offered to join HSPDP.
However, Basaiawmoit did not accept Shylla’s offer to join the party as his style of working is different from that of the UDP leader.
Referring to the ‘panic reaction’ remark of Shylla on Basaiawmoit, the media cell (alleged that Basaiawmoit turned down the offer to resolve the political dispute with Shylla.
HSPDP asserted that the pre-poll alliance with UDP is not a ‘panic reaction’ but the pre-poll alliances arise out of the need to fulfil the aspirations of the people.
