3-yr-old kidnapped from Silchar found in EJH

SHILLONG/GUWAHATI/JOWAI: Subhamita Roy Chaudhury alias Trisha, the three-year-old child who was abducted from the staff quarter of Assam University in Silchar on June 5, was rescued from Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills district on Saturday afternoon.
Trisha is the daughter of Shubhadeep Roy Chaudhury, a professor of the Department of Life Science, and Shatabhisha, a medical officer of the health centre at the central university, was abducted from their staff quarter around 2.30 pm on June 5.
Police suspect the domestic help, Rambha Bakti alias Neha (20), who went missing on the same day.
East Jaintia Hills SP Spill Thamar said an unknown person left her in a barber shop in Khliehriat after he got scared since the baby was crying and the news about the kidnapping of the girl had already gone viral on Facebook and Whatsapp.
Sources said when the man was asked about the child he disappeared and police could not arrest him.
The family members of the girl along with Cachar Police arrived in Khliehriat and the girl was handed over to them. Assam police have arrested eight persons in this connection. The rescue operation was led by ADGP Mukesh Agarwalla.
