Girl found hanging in Tura PS toilet

SHILLONG: An 18-year-old girl, who landed in Tura women police station on Sunday, was found hanging in the toilet raising suspicion on the manner of death.
West Garo Hills SP Raghavendra Kumar said the teen, Silbaline M. Sangma from Baghmara, came to meet her friend in Tura and stayed with another friend, who works as domestic help in Dobasipara area, till Sunday morning.
The girl received a call in the morning and wanted to leave. “But the house owner of the maid, with whom she was staying, wanted her to be handed over to her parents at Dobasipara Beat House,” said the SP.
Later, she was brought to the women police station.
The girl was made to sit in a general room of the police station and around 10.30am she went to the toilet led by a sentry woman on duty.When she did not come out after 10 minutes, police opened the door and she was found hanging in the toilet around 10.40 am.
Kumar said legal formalities are being processed. He informed that magisterial inquest has been done with videograph and photograph records and the body has been sent for post mortem. Inquiry has started, he added.
