Shillong : A BSF jawan saved the two-month-old elephant calf (R) that fell into a ditch near the Indo-Bangla border in Baghmara on June 9. The mother (L) was killed two days ago and the villagers in Baghmara tried their best to rescue the calf but to no avail. Later, upon hearing its cries, a BSF jawan rushed to the spot and rescued it.
