SHILLONG: The Khasi Jaintia Butcher’s Welfare Association (KJBWA) has condemned the decision of the acting Syiem of Hima Mylliem to close down the cattle market at Baridua, Khanapara on the pretext of cattle health check up.
In a press statement, Generous Warlarpih, vice president of KJBWA said the decision of the acting Syiem came as a surprise as the health check up is being carried out by the state Veterinary department for the last seven months.
The organisation has urged the Hima Mylliem to cancel the order issued on June 8 and threatened to resort to agitation if the demand is not met.
