SHILLONG: A member of the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) allegedly murdered his sister-in-law at Mendima under Kharkutta police station in North Garo Hills.
District SP D.P Marak said the incident happened on Monday when Whistler Marak, an adviser to the federation, allegedly beat his sister-in-law Medinchi K. Sangma (22) to death. He fled the place immediately after the incident.
The accused slapped Medinchi and then kicked her. Her ribs broke leading to her death.
According to the SP, as per preliminary investigation, the assault followed an argument that had taken place between Whistler’s wife and his sister-in-law.
The postmortem has been conducted and police are looking for the accused.
