TURA: Two more persons involved in the kidnapping of a six-year-old boy from Dangkong in North Garo Hills district have been arrested. The boy was rescued on Monday.
The number of accused in police net is five. Three persons were held earlier.
North Garo Hills SP, Dalton P. Marak said the arrests were made from Damas and Dainadubi areas. While one person was arrested on Monday night, another was held on Tuesday.
Three more accused are absconding, the SP added.
The police chief also added that the kidnappers were a group of criminals and wanted to float a new gang.
As per the police chief, the kidnappers went to the house of the victim seeking drinking water but the family did not open the door. The kidnappers then threatened the family to open the door and once inside they locked the parents in a room.
The kidnappers lifted the child and made good their escape in the car the family owned.
The five arrested persons were identified as Dalson Sangma, Benjamin Sangma, Albert Shira, Sentush Sangma and Ismail Sangma. Two more persons involved in the crime were absconding, the SP added.
