SHILLONG: A special court on Wednesday granted 14 days of judicial custody to eight KSU members who were arrested by Shillong Police in connection with the torching of a police bus in Nongmynsong recently.
Police have arrested as many as 10 KSU leaders and eight were produced before the special court on Wednesday.
During the hearing on Wednesday, bail was moved for two more KSU leaders arrested in the same case.
However, Special Additional Public prosecutor Satendra Kumar strongly objected to the bail saying if it was granted, it would be tough for the district administration and police to control law and order and the accused would again indulge in cases of torching and harassing people.
The special court’s order on the bail plea is likely to be issued on Thursday.
