Villages get employment council building

NONGPOH: Minister of C&RD Sniawbhalang Dhar inaugurated the Area Employment Council (AEC) building at Nongsangu village in Ri Bhoi on Friday.
The building, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 10 lakh under the MGNREGS, will cater to the needs of six villages under the AEC of Nongsangu comprising Nongsangu, Umkei, Umkra, Shyntorbulia, Pahamriniai and Syntumaw.
The programme was also attended by local legislator Ngaitlang Dhar, MDC James Sylliang and other government officials at a function held at Nongsangu village.
Village elders, headmen and locals also attended the function.
The villages submitted a memorandum demanding upgradation of roads, water, electricity and parking lot, among other development schemes.
