MHIS enrolment
Enrolment for MHIS-III is underway in South Shillong constituency. Enrollment for Anjalee area, Garrison Cinema area, Military Hospital area, Paltan Bazaar and Lower Paltan Bazaar, Jhalupara (East and West), Cantonment area will take place from June 22 to 25. Again, the enrolment will take place in Assam club, Laban, Madan Laban community hall, Deva Kumar campus, RLSSCO community hall, Bishnupur and Lumparing Sports club from June 19-21. Enrolment at community hall, Lumsohphoh and community hall, Mynsain New Colony, Upper Lumparing will take place from June 22- 24.

Teachers’ meet
A general meeting of the All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association was held in Dakopgre Tura on Saturday. During the meeting, discussions were held on the demand for enhancement of 4th teachers’ salary and provision of ‘personal account salary’. The teachers are also demanding that their salaries are released without reducing the amount as per the PAB of 2016-17.

Domestic Workers’ Day
The Ferrando Domestic Workers Alliance (FDWA), Tura and Centre for Development Initiatives (CDI), Guwahati, in collaboration with the State Government observed the International Domestic Workers’ Day at the district auditorium here on Friday. West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Pravin Bakshi was the chief guest on the occasion. On the occasion, a memorandum on behalf of the domestic workers of Tura was submitted to the State Labour Department.

MGNREGA conference
A conference on Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guaranteed Act (MGNREGA) was held at Mawkasain village under Mawsynram C&RD Block. The conference was organized by 4th semester MSW students of St Edmund’s College in collaboration with the office of the Block Development Officer, Mawsynram. 10 Village Employment Councils (VECs) from different circles of Mawsynram C&RD Block participated in the conference.

Office bearers
The Graduate and Post Graduates Association of Ri Bhoi on Saturday elected its new members for the term 2017-2020 during the general meeting held in Shillong. Jean J. Kylla and S. Lyngshkor have been elected unopposed as president and general secretary of the body. Matthew K. Makdoh has been elected vice president, Daminot Kharshandi the working president and K. Makdoh the assistant general secretary among others.
