State actress gets Best North East Actor award

SHILLONG: Meghalaya’s Sylviana L Mawlong won the ‘Best Actor Female’ in the Prag Cine Awards Northeast held at Kokrajhar in Assam on June 17–18.
Mawlong, who won the title for her role in Dak Bangla as a mentally unstable girl, who is possessed by an evil spirit haunting her house.
She received the award by Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff.
Speaking about the experience, the Director of the movie, Kitbok Kharmalki said that the movie was nominated in three categories of Best Director, Best Movie and Best Female Actor.
“It was unexpected for us since many good movies from the North East and made out of huge budget were nominated for the awards,” he said.
Expressing happiness that the young actress of the movie has been able to brought laurels to the State, Kharmalki said that he is extremely happy over the feat. “We were happy only because our film was nominated and the award has made us even happier,” the Director added.
The Khasi horror movie – Dak Bangla is directed by Kitbok Kharmalki and produced by Justice Marwein with Regina Lamu, Sylvania Mawlong (Main), Metilda Nongbah and Joseph Pyngrope as the main starrers.
