‘Cattle worth Rs 11 lakh seized’

SHILLONG: Border Security Force (BSF) troops deployed in East and West Khasi Hills have seized cattle worth over Rs 11 lakh.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, BSF said a group of miscreants were trying to smuggle 32 cows at Nayabazar in East Khasi Hills. Though the men escaped, BSF has seized the animals worth Rs 6.5 lakh.
In another incident, troops in West Khasi Hills recovered cows worth Rs 4.7 lakh at Kaithakona, the statement said.
The BSF has seized 189 cows and contraband worth more than Rs 31 lakh from the international border in the last four days from the Khasi Hills districts and South West and South Garo Hills.
