Assam Rifles nabs two illegal arm dealers in Nagaland

Kohima: The troops of Assam Rifles apprehended two arms dealers along with arms near Dimapur.

According to a statement issued by the PRO of the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) on Saturday informed that based on specific information regarding movement of suspected arms dealers along National Highway 29, 41 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) along with police representatives established a Mobile Vehicle Check Post in general area Patkai Bridge, under Dimapur district on Friday.

At the MVCP, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted a suspected vehicle and apprehended two individuals alongwith one Point 32 mm Pistol with two magazines, one Air Gun, two live rounds of Point 32 mm and one Maruti Gypsy without any registration number.

The apprehended were identified was a 34-year-old and a  resident of Chiswema village under Kohima district while the other is 38- years-old and a resident of Lower Bayavu in Kohima town.  The apprehended individuals alongwith the recovered arms and items were handed over to Diphupar Police Station in Dimapur town for further investigation, the statement added.
