NONGPOH: A fresh case of arson at a PWD guest house was reported from Umsiang in Ri Bhoi on Friday.
Officials said two beds of an inspection bungalow of the Public Works Department located at Umsiang, a few meters away from the Police Outpost of Umsiang, were burned and damaged. The incident occurred around 4.30 am on Friday.
Late-night attacks on houses and government offices continue as the protest against the railway project in the district gains momentum with more pressure groups supporting the Khasi Students’ Union.
The PWD official at Mawhati sub-division filed an FIR against the miscreants at Umsiang police outpost for necessary action to be taken as per section of law.
