SHILLONG: Shylla jeered at the ‘Combined Group of MDCs from UDP, HSPDP, Independent and Congress’ for staging a walkout during the Council session as the Oppositions do not have enough members to topple the Executive Committee (EC) of KHADC CEM PN Syiem. He asserted that their complaint to the District Council Affairs Minister (DCA), Prestone Tynsong is only an excuse as they don’t have the number.
Shylla stated that two MDCs – UDP member Equator Nongrang and HSPDP Blanding Warjri , who gave their support to the People’s Democratic Forum (PDF) coalition led by Syiem did not want Congress’ support in order to move the no-confidence motion and hence refrained from attending the Council.
Asserting that Administrator rule cannot be imposed in the KHADC by taking into account the mistake of the, he said, “If the Chairman is wrong, the High Court should be approached and not the DCA minister.”
However, he said, “Before approaching the High Court, they should be aware of Rule 41 of AD rules, 1951 which states – ‘Proceedings not invalid for failure to comply with rules’.”
Slamming Congress, he said, that CM Mukul Sangma is taking a political advantage against PN Syiem.
Meanwhile, the Sub-Committee of the supporters of MDC HS Shylla, in a meeting held recently decided that he should resign from UDP and become a full fledged member of PDF. The meeting was attended by Hilarius Warbah, Chairman of the committee, Secretary Esmond Kharkongor and 14 other members. The Sub-committee stated that the PDF fold should be secured in Nongkrem.
