BJP demands extension of Disturbed Area Act across Tripura

Agartala: BJP Tripura State Committee demanded to bring the state in the coverage of Disturbed Area Act (DDA) under Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) following group clashes between CPI(M) and BJP across the state in past few days.
The South Tripura district administration has imposed 144 of CrPC on Sunday, after in fight in both the parties in Belonia that left as many as 37 injured including 33 of BJP where 10 of them are stated to be critical and undergoing treatment in Belonia district hospital.
Besides, additional forces specialised doctors were called for the treatment of the injured persons. However, Superintendent of Police (South Tripura) Manchak Ipper claimed that the situation is under control now and adequate measure has been taken to normalise the situation.
DIG Southern Range Aridam Nath and Health Minister Badal Choudhury have been stationed in Belonia. Additional forces were deployed across Belonia town and periphery to dispersing the gathering of more than three persons and security has been tightened in important localities.
The fight between BJP and CPI(M) supporters has been continuing over a month in different locations that turned the hot political situation volatile. (UNI)
