3rd ‘Slum Yuva Daud’
New Delhi: Two central ministers flagged off the third “Slum Yuva Daud” on Sunday. Thousands of youths took part in the race from Kasturba Gandhi Polytechnic, Pitampura, to Pitampura Sports Complex in west Delhi. Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel and Union Environment and Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan flagged off the race. (IANS)
Ocon earns 8 points for Force India, Perez retires midway
Baku: Force India’s Esteban Ocon secured eight valuable points for his side after finishing a creditable sixth while it was disappointment for his teammate Sergio Perez as he failed to complete the race in a wild and chaotic Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday. Ocon improved a rung to finish sixth ahead of Kevin Magnussen of Haas, Carlos Sainz of Toro Rosso, two-time champion Fernando Alonso and Pascal Wehrlein of Sauber. (PTI)
Sindhu, junior hockey team win SJFI annual awards
Hyderabad: The Sports Journalists Federation of India, at its annual general meeting on Sunday, decided to confer the best Sportsperson of the Year Award on the ace shuttler and Rio Olympics silver medallist P.V Sindhu. The Best Team of the Year award was bagged by the Indian junior hockey squad which won the World Cup in Lucknow last December. (PTI)
Brazilian Fabinho wants to work with Mourinho
London: Brazilian defensive midfielder Fabio is reportedly tempted to work under English Premier League club Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho. According to The Independent, the specualations over the AS Monaco full-back making a move to the English giant this summer have gained a certain boost after he admitted desire to work with Jose Mourinho. He also revealed his aspirations to work under great managers and named Manchester City coach Pep Guardioa, Real Madrid coach Zinadine Zidane amidst a few of them. (IANS)
