Absconding rape accused surrenders

TURA: A wanted criminal on the run from Tura police for the alleged rape of a teenage girl, last week, has finally given himself to authorities on Friday night.
The accused, Sengsang T Sangma (36) had raped a 14 year old who was staying in the same house of their uncle Last week.
He committed the crime on the school going child when his uncle and the entire family was away in Shillong.
Both the accused and the victim were part of the household.
He took advantage of the victim in the house ay Aglanggre and later fled from the scene after police complaint was lodged
The accused gave himself up to police at the Women’s police station on Friday night. He has since been taken into custody for questioning.
