Ganja worth Rs 2 crore seized from city bypass

SHILLONG: Acting on a tip off, the Custom sleuths on Saturday seized around 1500 kgs of ganja worth Rs 2.25 crore from a truck near Diengpasoh village on the Shillong By-pass road. 
The Custom sleuths intercepted the truck bearing the registration number (BR 01 GB 8195), which was on its way from Tripura and was proceeding towards Bihar to deliver the consignment. 
It is learnt that the huge consignment of ganja, which was coming from Tripura was hidden on the back of the truck. The driver identified as Munib Singh, resident of Bihar and also the handy man of the truck were detained.
A total of eight cases of ganja seizure, where around 3500 kgs of ganja was seized by the Custom department this year.
