Sari, cloth worth Rs 12 lakh seized in WJH

SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized Rs 8 lakh worth saris and dress materials in West Jaintia Hills, a statement from the force said.
The statement, issued on Sunday, said troops deployed at Muktapur, which had unfenced border, in the district spotted a group of around 10 men carrying 7-8 packets on their heads.
Though the suspected smugglers escaped, BSF claimed it seized 790 saris and 1,215 meters of cloth.
In another incident, BSF troops at Pyrdwah in East Khasi Hills seized 340 saris worth more than Rs 4 lakh
Cattle seized
BSF troops once again seized cattle worth over Rs 2 lakh in East Khasi Hills, the statement claimed. Its troops deployed at Nayabazar seized 12 cows. BSF has seized 441 cattle worth more than Rs 66 lakh since last weekend.
