SHILLONG: UDP has nearly finalised seat-sharing with Garo Hills based GNC while the adjustment of seats with HSPDP is pending.
However, the party is yet to work out an alliance with another regional party, KHNAM.
As per the first phase of seat adjustment, while UDP will contest in 12 seats out of the total 24 in the entire Garo Hills, GNC will contest in four seats, UDP president Donkupar Roy said on Sunday.
“We will meet soon to decide on the remaining eight seats for Garo Hills,” Roy said.
Besides GNC, UDP had also clinched alliance with HSPDP, but the announcement on seat-sharing is likely to take some more time as further discussions are on.
As far as HSPDP is concerned, Roy said both the parties will work out the modalities in the due course of time.
He said though UDP had expressed the need to have alliance with KHNAM, the party has not made further progress into the matter.
