SHILLONG: Three Independent legislators from Jaintia Hills — Robinus Syngkon (Mowkaiaw), Justine Dkhar (Khliehriat) and Stephenson Mukhim (Amlarem) — have decided to join a political party after September to contest the 2018 Assembly polls.
The three legislators are currently part of the Congress-led MUA-II Government.
Syngkon said on Tuesday that the trio will jointly decide which party to join with the help of their mentor and businessman Thomas Nongtdu from Jaintia Hills.
Sources, however, said the three MLAs, among others, are not keen to seek Congress ticket considering the anti-incumbency factor of the ruling party.
When asked, Syngkon said, “We are yet to take a decision which party we will choose, but a decision will be made after September.
The last session of the Assembly of the current term will be held in September.
