NONGPOH: Concerned over the prevailing law and order situation in Ri Bhoi and the State as a whole in the wake of the rail project row, the headmen of the district under the umbrella of Durbar ki Rangbah Shnong Ri Bhoi District (DRSRBD) in a meeting held on Monday slammed the State Government for its ‘apathy’ towards solving the issue and initiating talks with the pressure groups.
In a statement issued here, general secretary of the DRSRBD, C.B Syiem, said the Durbar of all village heads in the district expressed grave concern over the current state of affairs which has gone from bad to worse due to the apathetic attitude of the government.
“The Durbar also slams police highhandedness. Raid on houses in search of KSU activists has created a fear among the local populace,” Syiem pointed out.
He also said the durbar of the village heads feels that the state government should immediately initiate peace talks with the concerned pressure groups and chalk out steps to restore peace.
The traditional heads’ body informed that it will organize a “special meeting” on the issue at Auditorium Hall, Umsning Town Dorbar on July 10.
