SHILLONG: Assam Finance Minister, senior BJP leader Himanta Bishwa Sarma and the convenor of the BJP-backed North East Development Alliance (NEDA) on Friday said that a non-Congress Government would be formed in Meghalaya next year after the Assembly election.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the programme of NDA’s Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind here on Friday, the BJP leader said that saffron party’s preparations were going on smoothly for the Assembly elections scheduled to be held in Meghalaya next year.

“After Presidential election is over, you will get to know about our preparations,” he said.

Asked when the Congress MLAs and ministers were joining the saffron party, Sarma just said, “Let’s See”.

The BJP unit in Meghalaya had earlier claimed that many sitting MLAs and ministers from the ruling Congress were willing to join the party but they were not able to do so in view of the anti-defection law.
