SHILLONG: After BJP, NPP and PDF, it is now NCP that has claimed that many prominent leaders, including legislators, will join the party within a few months.
Independent legislator Saleng Sangma, who is set to join NCP at an appropriate time, said on Friday that there are many others who are willing to join the party and it will take some more months for the final announcement.
Sangma said NCP will be an alternative to other political parties, especially the Congress and NPP.
Earlier, BJP, NPP and the new political outfit, the People’s Democratic Front, had claimed that many legislators, especially from the Congress, are keen to join them by September.
If it materialises, the most affected will be the Congress which has 30 members in the House of 60.
Open for alliance
Sangma also said the party is keen to have alliance with UDP and HSPDP and the talks are on in this regard. “We would like to have sharing of seats and understanding with the regional parties in Khasi and Jaintia Hills,” Sangma said.
