SHILLONG: A book titled, ‘Play more to win more’, written by Deep Kumar Biswa, a retired Auditor of the Defence Accounts, was released on Tuesday by Patricia Mukhim, editor of The Shillong Times, in presence of an august gathering and family members of the author at Asian Confluence here.
Observing that every book portrays labour of love, Mukhim said “Nobody without passion can write a book. We write either to impress or to express. However, writing to impress does not go too far.”
Emphasizing on the importance of expressing one’s feelings in writing, she said, “Words are more powerful as words can heal or hurt. Words give energy.”
Referring to the book, Mukhim said, “I am impressed with the book and it shows the originality of the writer’s thought process. We are blessed to have such a book and have so much to learn from this book.”
The author, Biswa, maintained that the book was meant to reach out to the youth who, he said, were clueless about their goal in life. He said the book was based on his experience of involvement on a voluntary mission for empowering of youth.
He credited his friend, A Zulfi, managing director of Grace City, for giving him the inspiration to write the book.
Biswa lamented that parents and guardians did not guide today’s youth adequately and there was want of value education among the youth in spite of their academic achievements and professional skills.
Speaking on the occasion, Zulfi termed the book as a refreshing one. “We need to play. Even children are not playing as they get hounded by competitiveness. In fact, we should play with the reality of life itself.”
“Winning is not about winning in competition, but winning in life by struggling to fight the odds in our life,” he added.
Manosh Das, senior journalist said that the book should reach the targeted audience.
