SHILLONG: The Mawlai Town Durbar has urged DGP S.B Singh to ensure that the police behave in an appropriate manner whenever raids are conducted.
In a letter addressed to the DGP on Tuesday, former legislator and president of Mawlai Town Durbar, SD Khongwir said a few residents of Mawlai have criticized police highhandedness while conducting frequent raids targeting youths protesting against railway connectivity.
“Some of the police personnel have acted in an inebriated mood. All these are prime source of rancour”, the letter said.
According to Khongwir, cooperation with village functionaries as it used to be before will certainly ease the situation and prevent things to spiral unnecessarily. He said in this regard, the DGP should tactically handle the police.
