MDC welcomes SC decision on beef ban

SHILLONG: Mawlai MDC, PT Sawkmie, who is also the Co-Chairman of Meghalaya Resource & Employment Generation Council, has expressed his contentment with Supreme Court’s decision of extending a three-month stay on the Center’s notification on banning the sale and purchase of cattle for slaughter.
In a press statement issued here on Wednesday, he said that the suspension of the Government’s notification is a message to the BJP that it should not be hasty in making policy decisions. Sawkmie added that the stay order is a relief to those engaged in the livestock business.
