SHILLONG: The government on Thursday issued show-cause notice with a seven-day deadline to IAS officer HM Shangpliang who was seen addressing a Congress meeting at Lawbah in Mawsynram on July 8.After the media reported the matter based on a video clip, pressure groups had written to the Government to cause an inquiry and suspend the official from the post he is holding as he had violated Service Rules (3A), 3(2A) and 5 of the All India Service (Conduct) Rules, 1968, as amended for serving administrative services officer. An official source said the government sought an explanation from the official before taking any next step.Shangpliang is expected to opt for voluntary retirement to contest the Mawsynram seat on a Congress ticket     after the party suspended the sitting legislator and KHADC CEM P.N Syiem for three years for questioning the style and functioning of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.
